If you are the kind of gambling individual like me, who is fond of reading anything related to gambling- particularly poker and the pros- then here are some of the good magazines that I recommend.
# Card Player- I am almost tempted to say- need I say more? Well, I will say more regardless, as far as the stable of writers is concerned, they have probably the best in the market.
# Bluff Magazine- they have interviews, articles and good shots (photos) in here. I actually have a friend who subscribes to this, just for the pictures alone. I don't know, maybe he is going to put up a giant album or something, then try to sell it and pass if off as his own. I'd better warn him that this kind of thing could be brought to the courts.
# Deal- this material is crammed with reviews on all matters pertaining to poker, that covers softwares, DVDs, and even podcasts. If you are a newbie, this would be a good reference for you, as they have much basic data for you. You might get bored if you are a 20-year poker veteran, it would be best if you go to the other longer-standing publications.

WPT or World Poker Tour is one set of Holdem tourneys held all over the world map, but principally in the US. Major sponsors for these competitons are Net rooms and casinos, as could be expected.
This great poker tour commenced in 2002, the highest point was the Championship held in April of 2003 at Nevada's turf. The network debut happened in 2004 at NBC, and the Travel channel came out the first 5 seasons. April of last year, it was announced that this series would move to another venue (network) in 2008, but of course, assuming that plans do not miscarry.
Hosts of the show as you very well know if you are a TV/cable buff, are Vince V Patten and Mike Sexton. The format of the show is such that the viewers are given the thoughts/impressions that commentaries are done in real-time vis-a-vis the tourney's proceedings. The truth is, the comments are recorded when everything is finished, since gaming laws bar them from watching live feeds/shots through cameras, and it all makes sense.
On another thing about WPT, they came up with the "Walk of Fame" four years ago, and legendary Gus Hansen and Doyle B were inducted into the roster, and from the Hollywood's side of the fence, James Garner made the cut.

Bluff Magazine: found in many casinos, and in the United States, it can boast of a 250,000 circulation. "Boast" is the term, as this magazine has not been around for a long time. Recently, an offshoot, the Bluff Europe emerged, focusing on events and developments on the said continent. Articles are penned by Roy Brindley, Neil Channing, and other notable personalities.
Card Player magazine: this has been in existence for so long now, decades in fact. Arguably the most acknowledged poker magazine and just like the first magazine mentioned, they have their brother publication, the Card Player Europe. Pros like Daniel Negreanu give hints and tips to all kinds of poker players. They do this via in-depth analyses of hands, and that is not all. This magazine presents interviews with notable people of the gambling world. From a general perspective, this is a magazine for veterans, not newbies, but surely, even if one is the latter...he'll learn at least a few things from it.
Lastly, the magazine gives regular articles from Padraig Parkinson, Marty Wilson and still others, mainly focusing on British developments in poker. One thing I can say about this magazine, even if you are not the reading type, there are things in here you'll find interesting...or if not that...at least fun.

In the June issue of Card Player Magazine, there are articles on the World Series of Poker which include predictions, strategies from professional players, and Carlos Mortensen's winning glory in both WPT and WSOP Championships. Among other poker magazines, I like this one because their articles are written by poker pros like Daniel Negreanu and Phil Hellmuth. Reading the magazine is like learning from the pros themselves. Most of the articles are about tournaments and techniques in playing poker. Card Player magazines for college players are also published regularly. It features poker players and universities at Las Vegas, the world's poker haven.
I also enjoy visiting Card Player's website because it's as informative as the magazine. The site offers links to online poker sites, poker pros' blogs, poker news, history, and even legal topics in playing poker. It also has live coverage of poker tournaments and updates on results and schedules, too. Filled with tips and tools in playing poker, the site is an excellent source of poker information for beginners, intermediate, and advanced players.

A very reliable online source of poker tips and the latest news about poker championships around the world, the PokerPro magazine is backed-up by a team of dedicated writers with one passion -- poker. This online magazine is the perfect destination for both amateurs and professional poker players who wish to improve their techniques and skills. Probably the best feature of this online magazine is the "poker calculator" -- a very valuable feature any online poker magazine can offer its patrons since this virtual device can help newbies and pros alike to compute the odds while taking into consideration a number of combination. This feature is very user-friendly since the player will just have to choose a combination from the deck and the results of the odds will appear in seconds. The PokerPro also offers a profile of some of the hottest poker players including an exclusive interview with the staff of PokerPro. Readers can also access reviews of some of the best poker destinations in town. This site also provides reviews of online poker gaming sites complete with screen shots and interesting opponents. Poker addicts can also satisfy their cravings by clicking on the free poker option and start playing instantly without having to download any software programs.

Recent researches show the importance of marketing expertise in acquiring poker players for online poker sites. The Institute of International Research conducted a poll from 1,300 executives about this topic.
The result shows that 29% of the executives believe that marketing expertise is the most essential factor that all business leaders must have. 22% goes to the importance of operations expertise, while 14% say that the key factor is financial expertise. Additionally, 8% of the respondents agree that engineering and sales are the main factors.
As such, online poker sites must have genius ways to attract poker players, since the online poker world is highly competitive. One way that poker sites do is advertise. Historically speaking, TV advertising is the most effective way to acquire players. However, this marketing strategy is quite expensive.
Consequently, poker sites have developed creative ways of marketing their products. Some resort to affiliate marketing, which includes cross-linking, link promotions, and the like, whereas other sites use Internet ads. Albeit, poker sites are successful in their ventures and so far, poker is the top choice among online casino games.

What do you often do at night? Most people place themselves around their television every night just to watch ESPN, which televises the WSOP or WPT tournaments. Don't deny it, bro, for I know you're one of us.
Poker is one famous casino game today. It is an irresistible game, which all types of people (rich and poor) know. If you happen to read some poker star biographies here, you might have known that some poker stars come from poor families, while some are school dropouts. Some even had tough jobs before they got into the poker world.
Saying so, being a poker star is not impossible for an ordinary citizen like you. If Spiderman was the nerdy Peter Parker before he became a hero, then you can be like him, too. You, a rugged and ordinary neophyte, can be a famous and exquisite poker star!
Simply do the following steps: first, practice and develop your poker stratagems. You need them, especially in times of financial crises. Second, practice poker faces. They are important on a poker table or in any tournament. Third, lessen bluffing speeches. They might bring you to the losers' lane when you least expect it. Fourth, never speak alone. People might scorn you and think you're crazy. Lastly, don't be a fool, who thinks that doing all these steps will make you an instant poker star.

Poker magazines give us abreast news about our well-loved poker stars and about the latest poker events on the web. These magazines also keep us updated on the upcoming tournaments and recent tournament rankings. But today is different, because most poker magazines contain nothing but sentiments about the recent Senate Bill 862.
Senate Bill 862 is also known as the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act of 2006. This gambling bill only cripples the gambling industry. Although this bill aims to stop online gambling, most casino sites do not believe that it will take effect. In fact, most of them, like Full Tilt, Ultimate Bet, Absolute Poker, Bodog, and Pinnacle Sports say that nothing will change. They believe that people have freedom where to shell out their money. Thus, the casino party continues in these sites!
However, Party Poker, 888, Paradise Poker, and Sportingbet choose to leave their US customers and suspend all real accounts in the US. Nevertheless, they still need to manage the rest of the players in the world. As for us, Americans, we can only hope that the President will hear our voices and bring back the spirit of liberty.

When it comes to the poker game, many people have their own favorites. Now these pros have a lot of skills and techniques on the trade that newbie poker gamers look up and try their best to mimic. With the advent of online video poker games and poker rooms, beginner and intermediate players can now learn the tricks used by their favorite pros just by watching an online game with their poker stars as its players.
But this also has resulted in more demand for more information on each online pro. With this, there are now several magazines, online or otherwise, that have stepped up to the plate -- claiming to be the most informative poker player magazine. Most of these magazines offer only information on a specified field of online casino gaming, and usually, this would be the poker game.
But the Casino Player magazine has a lot of information when it boils down to the different aspects of casino gambling entertainment, online or otherwise. This magazine has a lot of updated information on the top online poker players of the world, and a few good interviews to boot. It also has a lot of tips and tricks on the most widely played casino games, and this makes this magazine a more informative offering over its competitors.

It seems rather coincidental that two of the most exciting events in the world are now on their way to bringing more thrill into sports. The World Cup is now being held in Germany, and the WSOP is on its way this second quarter of June at Harrah's. Card Player will be the official magazine and online program for the WSOP 2006. So hit your seats and if you aren't so lucky to get one at the tournament venue, get your eyes glued to your broadband screens as Card Player delivers all the action to you, live, with lots more information packed in every report.
Card Player magazine will be the official content providers for WSOP.com and the only media organization bringing regular streaming video from the floor. The magazine is even working with cell phone companies to deliver information on a mobile basis. What's even more exhilarating is that Card Player magazine, in the spirit of celebrating the 2006 WSOP, will bring about lots of changes in the website as well as other products that will be offered for the event promotion. Some of them include reduced prices on all items by half, reduced magazine price subscription, contests, and discounted entry fees for community tournament promos.
You don't have to go anywhere for updates since Card Player magazine is all open-doors to the 2006 WSOP. It doesn't matter that you love to watch the World Cup as well, since you can always leave the site's streaming videos on, while getting your ears perked up for the World Cup hurrahs on the radio. Like we all have anticipated, sports season is on!

Hey, who says poker games are for men only? Maybe, men are the 'phenomenal', pioneers of this game, but women also took the chance to join the table. Surely, you will not likely to see more women in poker games, but when they play, they surely win. Just imagine your mother sitting right next to your favorite poker player, she has got the right card combination, wins, and goes home with a basket of groceries. Nice, huh? Well, that is reality. I mean the reality is women also play poker, and we cannot deny them of the chance to win.
There are no discrimination in casinos. But, if you think these women just watch the game, wait until they sit to play. What drives these women to join in? God knows. But, there is one thing for sure - they have the source wherein to learn the game. Woman Poker Player is a magazine dedicated to women poker players. The latest issue has Cindy Margolis on the cover page. Just imagine Cindy Margolis playing poker. That would be hot! Just like Card Player, WPP is the ultimate manual in playing the game. Hey, you will unlikely to find fashion and household articles in here. The whole thing circles around poker, and the opinion of women towards the most popular casino game. The animus and anima of poker are featured in the magazine so guys read it too. At least, you will be able to read their minds. But, women are unpredictable, so learn to deal with them. Deal and win. Good luck!

Does anyone still remember the story of Jack Straus? Sure, he wasn't any Doyle Brunson or Phil Hellmuth, but he was a miracle man in poker when he won the 1982 WSOP Championships. Story goes that he was so short-stacked on the final table (with a ridiculous stack of 25 chips) that no one would have predicted he would take home the WSOP bracelet. He did, and as with all stories, there's a moral lesson involved.
If your games are not as miraculous as Jack Straus, do us a favor and don't attempt to re-enact his game if you aren't so sure you are going to win like him. Don't let your stacks go so low - remember, chips are power in poker. If you can't help trying to impress us, anyway, just look at a few important details of your play: the pot, your position, and your stack relative to the blind.
Playing multi way pots can make you bust, if you don't get so lucky at tripling up your win. If your opponents see you as one more player to be eliminated, they would easily target the pot. Another factor is your position. It still matters if you are under the gun and you want to go all-in. If you get unlucky, your opponents will call and someone in another position will have a better hand than yours.

Although ranked fourth place among the highly recommended poker magazines, Poker Player Newspaper still is one of the most reliable source of poker information. By the way, the publisher preferred 'newspaper' from magazine because the daily issue of the paper features all sorts of news about the schedules of tournaments, interviews with casino managers, odds in poker, and updates on ongoing games.
The brainchild of PPN is Stanley Sludikoff. His online magazine is affiliated with casinos all over America. There is section in the web page that allows readers to access to the 24 states. Also, the newspaper allows free subscription to its newsletter. On the lighter side, the site also included a daily crossword for poker enthusiasts. Test your knowledge on that. Plus, PPN also has a portion where poker enthusiasts could search for their favorite players. Most of the time, celebrity players are being searched. That is no surprising since celebrity poker tournaments are all over Hollywood. PPN has a lot more to offer than any other magazine. Novices can even refer to PPN for the basics in poker pots. Basically, PPN serves a wide range of audience and helps readers gain a deeper understanding of poker.

CardPlayer.com has probably received enough praise as an outstanding online poker player magazine so I guess I shouldn't lay it on thick a little further. I would, however, wish to pinpoint that perhaps their strongest attraction was on the fact that some sections were hosted by star poker players and writers themselves such as Daniel Negreanu and Thomas "Thunder" Killer. Note that Card Player isn't merely an online magazine - it comes out in print version as well.
You can find a lot of resources in this site. It is affiliated with other magazines and PokerMedia sites. To delve deeper into the world of poker (read: supplies, literature, analysis), you could click on the appropriate icons right at the website's heading. Poker forum enthusiasts can join the card talk while those who wish to play poker for free can find it on the Free Poker section.
Since Cardplayer.com is affiliated with other gambling sites, you can easily receive poker updates and information via the newsletter if you join the site's mailing list. There are no irritating banner ads here - everything is relevant. You get tips for the day, join poker polls, and answer poker quizzes, courtesy of poker insights culled from motley poker resources.
